So it has been forever since I have posted. Sometimes after a long break from posting it is hard to find something worthy enough to break the silence. It also becomes hard not to catch up on everything that has happened since the last post. But today I am getting past all that, and sharing some small things I've wanted to blog about over the last few months.
1. I had a blast decorating my classroom this year. Each year it is a challenge to come up with a new way to decorate the same classroom for the same subjects. The first thing I did this year was take some advice from all the HGTV design shows I watched this summer, and painted the front wall of my classroom bright purple (one of our school colors). The school let me use some left over paint, and 4 hours later I had a big purple wall.
After
They say on all those design shows that you should make your "space" a place you want to be in, and I am really enjoying my room this year.
2)Another thing that is making my 2 year at BCS better is resurrecting two former traditions that I loved so much at ACA. 1) coffee dates, and 2) fun committee. For the second week in a row I have been meeting with the "ladies" for "lattes" on Friday mornings at 7:15. It has been fun just hanging out with my girls. I am the solo, incognito, fun committee at BCS this year. My goal is to create more community, and I think the atmosphere is just right. Our middle school faculty this year is a great group! My first "fun" committee act was to continue the Birthday cake and celebration that was started last year. My second act I am still working on, but my idea is to play a round of "To Tell the Truth" (an old TV show) to get to know some faculty members better.
3) My last exciting piece of info is that Erik decided to prolong his training at UCDavis for another year. I am excited to not have to move again for another year. It also gives me more time in invest in people here. The Lord is good, because we were very unsettled about where to apply and just moving again in general. We weren't even thinking about prolonging, but the option presented itself, and seemed like the best option for us! Yeah!
In other news:
1) We had a great time on our trip to the East Coast. I actually made a scrapbook of the trip, which is way "arts 'n crafts" for me. I am super excited about it.
2) I had a blast visiting Sarah and the ACA gang
3) Erik gave the best Best-Man speech at Geoff's Wedding
4) Erik's sister is engaged
5) The Rogstads came for a visit!

definitely a blog-worthy post... though ANYthing you wrote is absolutely blog-worthy (I know what you mean about breaking the silence!)
I LOVE that you're doing those coffee dates and resurrecting the Fun Committee! So great.
Awesome that you could paint that wall purple. That adds a lot!
Will we get to see more pictures of your trip out east?
Miss you guys. Hope all is continuing well!

Ok, in all seriousness, that trip to LA was one of the two best things I did the entire summer!!! I loved it. Thanks!
