I need help!

Yeah for summer break! School is out, and I have the whole summer to get ready for baby :) I am almost 22 weeks along, and feeling the baby move like crazy! So exciting!!

We also found out last week that the baby is a boy! I feel like now we have all the information we need to start making room around the house for our new arrival. On the to do list:
  1. Clean out the closets.
  2. Combine our master bedroom with the office.
  3. Refinish our kitchen hutch.
  4. Refinish the rocking chair.
  5. Collect baby stuff.

You will notice that #5 on my list is the most vague. I have no idea what I need! So, I thought I would ask all you experienced parents out there for help. I do know I am using the crib my parents used for my sister and I, and I am thinking about converting a dresser into a changing table. We will be registering soon, and as of right now all I can think to register for are clothes and diapers. Obviously this just wont do. What could you not live without? Let me know :)

Nate and I have been thinking about this a lot this afternoon for you. It's actually a tough question - since some things will depend on the little guy himself. But, this is what we came up with:
1. White (bleachable) burp cloths
2. Swaddling blankets (if he likes to be swaddled) or sleep sack (if he doesn't like to be swaddled)
3. Pack n Play
4. Breathable Baby crib gaurd or bumper
5. Snuggle Nest (we used this for about the first 3 months with Jonas, he didn't sleep well in the cradle, but slept great with us, plus it made night time feedings MUCH EASIER)
6. Swing or bouncy seat

add to Becca's list--
1) carseat (bucket/carrier OR convertible). If you go with the bucket it's much more convenient for about 6 months, but then you'll have to switch to a convertible when he hits 20 pounds. We go with the bucket :).
2) Stroller; one that is compatible with the bucket carseat.
3) some sort of sling/baby carrier. I use the Ultimate Baby Wrap until they hit 15 pounds, then it's all about the Ergo :).
4) newborn baby bathtub
5) diaper bag

by the way, your belly shot is adorable :).

This is a great question! I would totally have someone experience go with you a second time after having registered with Erik for the first. I had a friend come along and tell me which things I need more of or less of.

I would say if you looked at what got the most use at our house, it would be this:
1. burp clothes
2. a Pack n Play (Sofia slept in one every night until a couple weeks ago)
3. diapers are worth spending a little bit more on if you notice a difference
4. some type of carrier (Bjorn, Ergo, Mobi wrap, etc.)
5. car seat that gets good ratings and a stroller that isn't huge (a friend has the Graco Metro-Lite and it gets so compact and it's much lighter!)
6. bouncy seat (we never had a swing, and in our dinky apartment it would've taken up too much room)
7. some type of portable booster seat (we LOVE the Fisher Price one)
8. borrowed toys. If possible, (especially for big-ticket items), use an Exersaucer or swing or bouncy seat from a friend.

We can't wait to meet this little boy! How exciting for you guys!

Um, you'll need an auntie to spoil him and tease him. I think you'll also need an aunt to babysit for you. I think an aunt might come in handy when the little guy is just too much to handle.... That's all I can think of.... ;)
