Being a science teacher, I always have my ear to the ground about this topic. And as usual both sides are gearing up for battle with in the world of cinema.
During my student teaching my peers were challenged regularly by some students about Evolution. They would talk at lunch about how silly these students were, because these students had no education compared to the highly educated researchers at universities. They would ask,"Why do these students think they are any type of authority on the subject?" During these discussions NOVA came out with a program called Judgment Day: Intelligent Design on Trial (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/id/). It is a program discussing the Trial that took place not allowing teachers to teach Intelligent Design in schools (Kitzmiller v. Dover).
On the other side of the debate, are those who argue that God is the ultimate authority, and that Intelligent Design is a completely acceptable scientific theory. Those who think the evidence lead to this answer claim that they're freedom of speech and belief are being stifled by Neo-Darwinists. And so in response Ben Stein has come out with his own program Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed (http://www.expelledthemovie.com/home.php). He says, "Big Science has expelled smart new ideas from the classroom."
So this is where the debate now stands. Be your own judge and jury?
