Niko's star

At the beginning of July, we had an amazing play day at McKinley Park.  As we were packing up to leave Niko bent down and picked up the tiniest confetti star you can imagine.  It was only about 3mm across.  With the biggest smile on his face he asked to take it home.  He was devastated both times he lost it on the way to the car, and cried and wailed all the way home when he lost it in the car.  Miraculously we found it a third time and we decided to tape it to the fridge as to not lose it ever again.

Tonight, 4 months later, Niko was driving in the car with Daddy.  He and Daddy were talking about the moon and stars and then Niko told Dad about how the stars are so shiny! And how one day in the park he found a shiny star that had fallen down from the sky.

On that day in July all I saw was an overtired, tantrumming, two year old.  I am overwhelmed to know now, that Niko was not all those things, but was instead a stary-eyed boy who thought he had found a treasure of the universe!

I love my Niko for all that he is!  I am constantly amazed by his mind and the way it works.  He has an impressive memory and fantastic language skills.  I am so glad they came together this time for a great story.

A not so tiny pumpkin

Niko is almost two, and since he was born in October it seemed a fitting nick name for him was Tiny Pumpkin. This year we visited a local pumpkin patch and Niko decided he loooves "punkins" (as he calls them). We brought some home to decorate the table and he hugs and kisses them at every meal. And brings them to life by having them "walk" and "jump" around his plate and over his silverware. But, at the patch he loved best of all the giant pumpkins. Here are some pics of our punkin with the punkins.
